Before the bush camp was developed, the property was named because of the guest accommodation. The lodge is a fully self contained guest suite with a king size bed, large ensuite with walk in shower , and large walk in robe. The separate lounge/dining area has a big television and comfortable lounge suite.
The kitchen has all you'll need to whip up your favourite feast, but we do recommend the Grand Hotel in Howard for at least one meal. Don't bring too much with you, you'll be tempted by the bakery too !
The lodge is super comfortable even for a longer stay.
Bookings can be made through https://airbnb.com/h/gumtreelodgehoward
Set amongst 40 acres in the bush, amongst the gum trees, offering peace, privacy and security. Simple and affordable and super peaceful for the over 50's crowd.
There are 3 dams on the property, and the 6 deck sites around 2 of the dams offer great water views. Our deck sites are the only ones in Australia, as far as we are aware !
Most of our 50 sites have power and water.
Fire pits are available throughout the property. BYO wood. Fire restrictions may apply in summer.
The ultimate bush camping experience for the over 50's traveler that has everything on board! You will need to use your own inbuilt ensuite.
You won't find toilets, BBQ's, camp kitchens, a pool, jumping pillows or kids here ! The lack of facilities is what keeps the costs, and your fees down.
A dump point is located on site.
Council restrictions mean we are unable to have tents, camper trailers or swags here. External shower tents are not permitted.
You will choose a bush camping site that suits you, on arrival. If you want to be with friends, you can park awning to awing. We can accommodate the biggest rigs. All our sites are in the bush. Green grass will depend on rainfall and wear and tear.
Deck sites are predetermined sites, although
they may be moved around to ensure they are maximised. Particular decks are not guaranteed but if you have a preference, just get in touch and we will see what we can do. Deck sites must be booked online.
Online bookings makes our job easier but if you are unable to book online, just give us a call.
When booking online, if you are unable to get the dates you require, please get in touch by phone. We may be able to move bookings around to get you in.
Please note firewood is no longer supplied. Sadly we had plenty of wood stolen, and wasted, and made the decision to stop the free supply. There is plenty of kindling around the block that can be collected.
All guests are welcome at the central fire pit.

We have a bunch of vintage vans joining us for the long weekend.
Modern vans are welcome too !
We love dogs and your pooch is welcome too.
There is no charge for your dog and we won't give you a long list of rules, or segregate people with dogs.
We do ask that dogs be kept on a lead, but we have a lovely area
by our bottom dam
where they can run free
and have a swim.
In 2017 George's Diner was built at Conway Beach Tourist Park, which Debbie and George then owned. Some of the items that were collected up there, came down to Howard.
While there are no meals at this "Diner ",
it is full of memorabilia and a great spot
for a get together.
A tour of George's Diner is available to guests on a regular basis.
George might even show you his shed!
George and Debbie built this property in 2020 after selling their caravan park in the Whitsundays the year prior. With 25 years in the industry and plenty of comments from their guests about what they needed, they established this bush camp for the over 50's travelers that don't want to pay for facilities they don't use!
In their downtime, they like to travel in their little vintage van for some fun, or their motorhome for a bit more comfort.
There are 44 powered sites scattered
through the bush and
6 deck sites around the dams.
Choose a site that suits your needs on arrival ( deck sites are pre-determined ) depending on availability.
UNPOWERED SITES.
The unpowered section of the park is available during peak periods only.
See the rates section for pricing.
Camp fires are not permitted in this area. Water is not supplied so please come with full tanks.
Maximum 4 nights stay in the unpowered area.
The Fraser Coast area enjoys a pleasant temperature all year round.
Winter is the best time to visit, but it is the busiest time ( particularly July )with the migration of southerners coming north to escape their cold weather.
Rates are slightly dearer due to supply and demand. There is plenty of fun to be had when there are more people around. Pizza nights happen weekly on a Friday or Saturday night all year round
( minimum numbers are required ).
Those braving the warmer summer weather, will enjoy more space and a reduction in rates.

If you're kids are over 50, you are all welcome to join us. Our aim was to provide a very peaceful setting for the older crowd. There are zillions of places built for families that you would find more suitable.
Of course you can! We don't ask for ID, just that guests are mature and respectful and are close to being 50.
Absolutely! We have had plenty of cats stay over the years. Most we never see. Some are walked on leads. You are all very welcome.
No cabins but we do have a beautiful guest suite. It's built for couples. You'll find the details in our "About" section.
